No matter what your activity, finding a clothing system which can cope with differing temperatures and activity levels throughout the day is a challenge. People often end up adding or removing multiple layers to stay comfortable.
The Grid Technic helps reduce the number of layers you need by offering cooling when exposed to the wind, or insulation when covered with a windproof or waterproof.
When covered with a wind-proof the fleecy grid squares trap air and provide excellent insulation. When uncovered the gaps between the grid allow moving air to go straight to the skin, promoting cooling. The structure of this next-to-the-skin fabric optimises lateral water movement for evaporative cooling, keeping you comfortable when you are working hard.
These features provide a fabric which can keep you warm and keep you cool, and therefore is useful in the widest range of temperature conditions and activities, from high mountain climbing to gentle spring and summer walking, and all year round cycling.

The Grid Technic combines the wicking and insulating benefits of Parameta G fabric with a practical, comfortable design.
When worn on its own, the Technic wicks sweat across a large surface area for efficient and rapid cooling. When covered with a windproof layer the raised grid pattern traps air in the garment to offer excellent insulation and warmth. As a result, the Technic does the job of both baselayer and mid-layer, reducing the number of garments you need to carry with you.
The design is comfortable and practical, with a feminine contoured shape and an athletic fit. The high collar offers neck protection, but can be unzipped to allow ventilation to the skin. For colder conditions, the thumb loops allow the wearer to secure the sleeves in place and eliminate any cold spots between gloves and baselayer.
Most other baselayers on the market are either thin for use in warmer conditions, or thick for use in colder conditions. This means that throughout the course of a day where temperatures or exertion levels vary, you may have to put on and take off several layers.
Páramo’s Parameta G baselayers offer more versatility, behaving like a thinner, cooler baselayer when uncovered, but like a thicker, warmer baselayer when covered with a windproof outer.
“The Grid Technic is the warmest, most luxurious-feeling base layer I’ve ever owned. The length is good (it stays tucked in), and the thumb loops keep the sleeves down over the back of the hands nicely (even when not using the thumb loops, I didn’t find the sleeves rode up at all). I wore mine on the Dachstein plateau during and after late October snowfall, and it kept me toasty warm, including while out taking some bitterly cold sunrise pictures. It went to the Hohe Tauern with me in February, worn with a Velez Adventure Smock while snowshoeing in the Gastein valley, and beneath several other layers for some unbelievably cold early morning summit views. And it was just what I needed while photographing the Basel carnival between 4am and dawn in February. ”

“A great piece of kit from everyday wear to part of a layering system. Wicks moisture well and seems to have the usual Páramo qualities of good design and build quality. Will be ordering another one ASAP.”

“They say there isn’t bad weather only the wrong clothing and I can safely say this trip supports that theory. I’m happy to say I was never really cold. Almost every day I wore the Long Janes with Ventura trousers and Long Gaiters, then depending on temperatures, on top I would have the Grid tech base layer, Zonda fleece, the Ventura jacket and when it got really cold, the Torres jacket. At night in my sleeping bag, I would keep the long janes on and the grid tech baselayer. They all performed brilliantly and were super comfy. I was particularly impressed with the baselayers, as being synthetic I thought they might be less warm, but this certainly proved not to be the case. I'm really liking the new women's styling, particularly of the Ventura. They fit really nicely and give a good shape.”

The Grid Technic is ideal for three season use in a temperate climate, or all year round in high mountain environments.
For wetter or colder conditions, the Grid Technic combines very well with a Nikwax Analogy® Waterproof jacket to give a very high level of protection.
The Grid Technic is not ideal for very hot summer conditions. In that case we would recommend one of our Cambia baselayers made from Parameta T+
This Parameta G fabric used for this garment makes it ideal to use underneath garments made from Nikwax Windproof or Analogy Waterproof fabrics. The fabric’s raised grid pattern is protected from wind, trapping air for insulation. If used with a style which offers ventilation zips, this allows you to expose areas of the Grid baselayer, providing cooling which can be easily attained without taking layers off.
Use the Grid Technic covered by Nikwax Windproof for moderate insulation and water resistance. This combination is great in warmer conditions where showers rather than heavy rain are predicted.
Use the Grid Technic covered by Nikwax Analogy Waterproof for a higher level of insulation and full waterproofing. This combination is good on colder winter days, especially if heavier rain is expected.
