The Nikwax Analogy system works differently from conventional waterproof fabrics— actively moving liquid water away from your body as well as allowing moisture vapour to escape. For occasional use, such as short walks or light showers, a lighter garment offers plenty of protection and breathability. But if you’ll be outdoors for long periods in persistent rain or carrying a heavy pack, a more protective design with greater directional waterproof performance will keep you drier and more comfortable.

For light use, such as a jacket to throw on during chilly mornings, a lower insulation rating is usually sufficient.
