Suitable for all large & medium format photography, the Dark Cloth also aids Digital SLR users with composition.

If you photograph outdoors in all seasons, you need a dark cloth for weather protection as well as lightproofing. Standard dark cloths are heavy when wet, slow to dry and awkward to use.

Directional Nikwax Analogy Waterproof fabric gives excellent weather protection. It actually moves water away from the camera, reducing misting of the viewing screen. It dries quickly so you end up with much less water in your bag when you pack away. It is designed for ease of fixing and maximum adaptability for different cameras.

The Páramo Dark Cloth offers condensation removal as well as weatherproofing and lightproofing, adaptability to different cameras and secure fixing:

  • Analogy fabric combines lightproofing and colour neutrality with wind/ rain protection and the ability to move moisture away, hugely reducing condensation and misting of the viewing screen.
  • Easily adaptable from traditional draped cloth to two sizes of tunnel.
  • Lightproof, secure fixing to camera, with red fabric at one end for correct positioning in low light.

Nikwax Analogy Waterproof fabric is more than just breathable, it is directional.

Nikwax Analogy Waterproof FabricThis means it is capable of moving liquid water away from your body and not just water vapour.

It is essential to avoid a build-up of water in your clothing system when you are working hard, as too much retained moisture will lead to your body rapidly chilling when you stop and rest.

In conventional clothing systems, approximately 20% of sweat production is dealt with effectively, leaving the remaining 80% trapped inside.

Nikwax Analogy garments are unique, in that they pump out this 80% of liquid water and allow it to drain away; you are left feeling dry and comfortable.

Choose the Dark Cloth for its weather protection, its moisture control and its usability and adaptability for different cameras …

The Páramo Dark Cloth offers significant benefits over standard cotton/ polycotton dark cloths, firstly because of the fabric’s characteristics and secondly for its ease of use. It can be adapted from a draped cloth to a tunnel, with two size options. It has been tested in the field by photography professionals.

  1. Nikwax Analogy fabric provides wind- and waterproofing but also removes moisture very effectively, reducing condensation and misting.
  2. Dries exceptionally quickly so you don’t transfer water into your bag and saves space in your bag.
  3. Drawstring for simple light-tight fixing to camera.
  4. Placement of red fabric simplifies assembly and use, especially in low light conditions.
  5. Full length zips allow conversion from open draped cloth to two alternative sizes of tunnel for easy adaptation to different conditions and requirements.
  6. Fabric is soft, flexible and quiet so it is very easy to work with.
  7. Zips and poppers are easily operable with cold or wet hands.
  8. Adopted by digital SLR camera users too to improve composition and the visibility of the LCD screen – especially live view users.

People who have bought the Dark Cloth say this about it…

“The Dark Cloth works perfectly. It fits perfectly on the 5D, is light, quick to fit, folds up into a tiny space in my backsack, is incredibly water and windproof and most of all allows me to maintain a natural distance from the native LCD screen on the 5D. Once under the hood, I can get the perfect exposure and depth of field by using a combination of my Fader ND, F.stop on the lens and ISO settings. It’s very well made and solves an otherwise difficult to solve problem that will generally ruin your shots.”

Páramo clothing does not rely on hazardous PFC treatments for water repellency.

Working closely with Nikwax, we have developed a pioneering PFC-free treatment for our fleeces, waterproofs and windproofs. Recent studies show that PFC’s are persistent in the environment and are damaging to human health; which is why Nikwax waterproofing solutions are water-based, use no harmful solvents or propellant gases, contain no damaging PFC’s and are not tested on animals.
