The Taiga Fleece is for walkers, nature-watchers, outdoor workers and travellers.

If you are outdoors across the seasons, there are many times that you don’t need a full Analogy waterproof, but would prefer a comfortable fleece that offers practical pocketing, still with good protection from the weather and superior moisture control.

The Taiga’s relaxed styling and generous pockets combine with unique directional Nikwax Analogy Fleece fabric to give protection against showers and wind, and perspiration removal even in humid conditions.

The Taiga has a classic design built for easy movement, pockets designed for practicality and is soft and quiet to wear but incredibly durable

  • Freedom of movement and comfort provided by the generous fit and the excellent articulation in the shoulders and sleeves
  • Outdoor and travel essentials such as camera, compass or travel documents are easily transported with four generous and accessible pockets
  • Exceptional comfort for all day wear from the soft, quiet fabric with high adjustable collar.

Nikwax Analogy® Fleece, like mammal fur, repels water and actively pushes both liquid water and water vapour away from the body

Nikwax Analogy Fleece Fabric Fleeces keep you warm by trapping still air between their fibres. Soak a conventional fleece in water and it loses up to 95% of its insulation. Nikwax Analogy® Fleece offers superior comfort, especially in humid conditions.

Choose the Taiga Fleece for its softness and comfort and extremely useful storage …

The Taiga Fleece combines the unique Nikwax Analogy Fleece for superior comfort and protection on the hill with four generous pockets.

So expect a cosy, quiet fleece offering a surprisingly high level of protection and perspiration removal combined with highly practical pocketing.

How will my Páramo Analogy Fleece outperform other mid-layers?

Many other mid-layers are designed simply to provide extra insulation when worn over a baselayer. Your Páramo Analogy fleece offers more versatility. Firstly because it is water-repellent, it provides a good level of protection when worn as an outer layer. Secondly, because it has aPump Liner which actively pushes moisture away from the body. Fleeces keep you warm by trapping still air between their fibres. Soak a conventional fleece in water and it will lose up to 95% of its insulation. In contrast, the Analogy Fleece is able to remove that moisture and keep you warmer and more comfortable, working just as effectively even in conditions of high humidity.

  1. Camera, compass or other essential storage provided by large zipped chest pocket.
  2. OS map storage pocket.
  3. Handwarming and additional storage from two waist level pockets.
  4. Maximum freedom of movement and increased comfort provided by articulated shoulders and sleeves.
  5. Adjustable temperature and weather protection from high collar with single-hand drawcord adjustment.
  6. Good temperature control and minimal rucking provided by concealed, elasticated waist and hem drawcords.
  7. Protection to lower back from scooped tail.
  8. Temperature adjustment from elasticated and poppered cuff allowing sleeves to be pushed up.

What users say...

“Over the years I have had many fleece jackets but the Taiga Fleece beats them all. It's really comfortable and lightweight, and I was relieved to discover that it's brilliantly wind-proofed! The pockets are conveniently placed, and big enough to carry lenses. The front buttons and high collar add to the comfort, and warmth. It’s very easy to clean after a dusty day in the field. It's a high quality, hard wearing jacket that would be appreciated by anyone who spends a lot of time working in the wild.”

Paul Williams, Wildlife photographer

“This is a quality item, - it’s cosy, comfortable and yes, it’s quiet. The pocketing is very good. There are two zip-up hand-warmer pockets, a very large vertically zipped chest pocket, big enough for a Collins Bird Guide and a smaller, horizontally-zipped chest pocket. This is a very good fleece.”

Birdwatching magazine

“Well, I have decided to treat myself to a new Taiga fleece as the first one that I owned and wore most days was in need of replacement after 10 years of daily use. What quality to last that long and that is why I purchased another one without even looking at any of the competition. Well made, built to last and functions like a dream, in a word superb. So goodbye old friend and hello new friend and here's to another 10 years. Thanks, Páramo!”

M.W, Bucks

“I have had my Taiga fleece for a good few years now and it is always the first thing on my list. I usually travel in it as it's so adaptable, looking smart but being exceptionally functional with all its secure pockets for tickets, passports etc.Once at our destination it really performs admirably for walking, especially in the mountains. In March 2008 we wore our Taiga Fleeces up to the summit of Pico do Arieiro,(1818m.) Madeira, it was quite breezy but we were both extremely cosy in our fleeces, knowing they have a high degree of wind resistance. Their durability is something else I would rate very highly. Both still look almost new - no excuse to buy a new one!!”

In what kind of weather conditions can I use my Taiga Jacket?

Your Taiga Jacket is water-repellent, directional, wind resistant and copes well with high humidity, so you can use it all year in cool, breezy or damp conditions. Although water-repellent, the Fleece fabric is not ideal for continuous heavy rain. In such conditions, we recommend an Analogy Waterproof. The fabric system offers insulation, so in hot weather we suggest a Nikwax Windproof, such as the Bentu, combined with a Parameta T+ baselayer, to optimise breathability and cooling. Or, for travel in hot conditions, the Halcon Traveller offers practical pockets in a cooler jacket.

Which garments should I use with my Nikwax® Fleece or Nikwax Analogy® Fleece to get optimum performance?

We recommend using our Parameta T+, Parameta T or Parameta G baselayers under your Fleece clothing.

Parameta T+ fabric is a lightweight wicking baselayer for warmer conditions where you don’t need significant extra insulation. The fabric will manage any sweat you produce when working hard, rapidly moving it across the fabric for easy evaporation.

Parameta T fabric provides a good balance between light insulation and heat dissipation for mid-range temperatures.

Our Parameta G fabric is a versatile baselayer fabric, perfect for colder conditions. The raised grid pattern allows wind to pass through it, giving it excellent cooling when vented underneath your fleece - perfect for going up hill. When you get to the top of the hill, close the vents on your outer layer and the raised grid will trap a layer of warm air for insulation.

For trips when you’re likely to experience extreme cold, our Nikwax Insulator garments are designed to be worn on top of your outer garments. This is great when stopping whether to eat lunch, take some photographs or set up camp.

Páramo® clothing does not rely on hazardous fluorocarbon (PFC) treatments for water-repellency.

Páramo have pioneered a treatment programme for waterproofs, fleeces and windproofs which enables us to take untreated fabrics and add Nikwax® waterproofing, not reliant on fluorocarbons to repel water. Studies show that fluorocarbons of all kinds persist in the environment and are damaging to human health. Nikwax waterproofing solutions are water-based and use no harmful solvents or propellant gases, are not tested on animals, not harmful to humans, and contain no damaging fluorocarbons.
